I support the bike lanes. It is unfair the the province is trying to override the ability for municipalities to make decisions that are in the best interest of the local population. Bike lanes indeed reduce congestion by removing car trips from he road, freeing up space for those who need car usage (Hamilton and Wichman 2018). Adding lanes continually increase congestion with a phenomenon called induced demand (Manville 2024). The Province should listen to experts on congestion.
