Bike lanes are good
They reduce the danger to cyclists, by limiting collisions and the seriousness of them.
They increase the the proportion of people who cycle instead of driving; reducing congestion, improving health, improving air quality.
Cities are places for people not cars. Bikes allow for more freedom of people by; taking up less space (while travelling and parked), posing less risk of injury to pedestrians, increase the likelihood of stopping to purchase something from a shop on the street.
