The most effective way of reducing gridlock is to give people more choices for how to get around. Removing bike lanes does the opposite. Adding more car lanes may reduce travel times in the short term only. We don't need to encourage more people to drive, we need to increase access to other modes: walking, cycling and using transit. Bike lanes facilitate a clean, efficient and safe option that many are discovering every day. You just have to see the number of bike-shares being used to realize that.
