As an Ottawa resident who relies on cycling for transportation, I strongly oppose this bill. It would put me and countless others at risk of injury or death by undermining the safety of our roads. Separated bike lanes not only protect cyclists but also reduce congestion by providing an alternative to driving. By allowing municipalities to manage their own infrastructure, we can ensure that local needs are met and progress is not undone for the sake of marginal time savings for drivers. I urge the provincial government to respect municipal autonomy and prioritize the safety and well-being of all road users.
