Zeljko Romic,
Our family home in Milford, where we have lived, worked and raised our family since 1980, is located within a few KM of the 4 installed turbines of the White Pines Windfarm and even closer to some of the remaining 5 that were within a few weeks of being erected this summer before work on the project was foolishly halted by the current Ontario government. We have no vested interests in this project, or any of the previous wind farms that we have supported over the past 2 decades which we’ve seen stopped by a small, vocal group of politically motivated anti-wind lobbyists. Our reasons for supporting White Pines and other wind energy projects have always been based on :
1. the proven science showing the urgency for immediate action to address climate change before it is too late,
2. the obligation we feel to our 3 adult children and 4 grand children to leave this planet in a safe and healthy condition for them and all life on Earth to live and thrive,
3.striving to reduce the carbon footprints of our community and province by replacing the polluting status quo methods of electricity production with non-polluting renewables such as wind and solar,
4.supporting our neighbours/ landowners/farmers/workers/businesses/fellow taxpayers by encouraging this development that would bring such a sorely needed economic boost to our local region,
5.showing the world by setting an example with our actions that we in The County can do the right thing to give hope for these positive changes that are required in this 21st century.
We urge you to consider our comments at this time while there is still an opportunity to prevent the dismantling of this wind farm. With sincere thanks.......
