This is another misguided and unwelcome move by the provincial government to override municipal authority. The province is offering no data to support the concept that bike lane conversion meaningfully impacts transit times. Bike ridership is relatively low, in part, because it is unsafe.

The provincial government should focus effort on economic development and growth, within its jurisdiction, rather than meddling in municipal affairs where it achieves no better results.
