Could you please provide some evidence on how this would actually reduce congestion?
I am also confused about the name of this act. I live in Barrhaven (Ottawa suburb) and I bike commute year round. I do not have the option to drive to work. I have a 20 minute bike commute, 65 minute walk, or 60+ minute bus/walk. Forcing me to use a different option would triple my commute time. I am very nervous about what would happen if the bike lanes in my community were removed. I would still be biking, but I would have to take up a whole lane, and I am not fast. With the bike lanes, I don’t have to impede traffic.
It’s weird to me that you would prioritize a very exclusive mode of transportation. Not everyone can afford a vehicle, and not everyone is legally able to drive (eg youth).
