Being someone who worries a lot about the impacts of climate change, I know that we need to change the ways we live and our transportation behaviours are a big part of that to reduce our reliance on oil. The removal of bike lanes is a big step backwards and I don’t support it. I am a cyclist and I don’t want to feel more unsafe on the streets because there is not proper cycling infrastructure. It’s classist to favour cars over public transportation, cycling and pedestrian infrastructure. It is also not appropriate from a governance perspective for the province to be making these kinds of infrastructure decisions within municipalities.
