The city desperately needs more bike lanes and better public transportation. Bike lanes make the city more livable and benefit local businesses. Cars cause pollution, traffic and isolation. This is all well-documented and supported by evidence-based city planning. Building more bike lanes should be a priority for the government, but REMOVING existing bike lanes is asinine. Removing these bike lanes will cost $75 million in direct and sunk costs, and is likely to increase deaths/accidents when bikers are forced to fight with cars in regular traffic.
Please, act with the best interests of citizens in mind instead of pushing a political narrative that serves no one.
