This project is opposed to reducing gridlock, climate change initiatives, encouraging people to be more active, and cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers' safety.
It’s not cost-effective since the lanes have been built in recent years and it will be very expensive to remove. Any removal will contribute to interfering with traffic which is counter to the idea of reducing gridlock.
This is just a political move by the government to divide people on an issue where people should be uniting to encourage public transport, diminish gas emissions by decreasing car traffic, and encourage healthy and safe exercise by cycling in the city. Removing these bike lanes will have 0 impact. It may embolden more drivers to take to the roads. All this is counterproductive. Every major city in the world from Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona or New York City is developing their bike lanes and decreasing car presence. Think of air pollution and our health. Think forward not backwards.
