I believe that the true problem lies in a lack of reliable and well marketed public transit, people would not be so dependant on cars and streets would not be so full if the TTC ran reliably and quickly. Bike lanes are not the issue, there should be less cars on the road and more alternative forms of transport (and funding for them) around the city.
