Getting rid of bike lanes to add more lanes for cars will not reduce traffic. As an example, highway 401 is one of the largest highways in north america yet we have significant traffic. Traffic occurs when many cars are stopping and starting, it creates a chain effect every time someone breaks.

Getting rid of bike lanes would not alleviate the issue of traffic. The best solution for traffic is investing in public/active transportation. It also reduces obesity and leads to a healthier city, something the City of Toronto struggles with. There is significant amount of research that proves removing bike lanes is not the answer.
