My wife and are both over 70 years old. We try to keep active year round and ride our bikes almost year round. Thanks for dedicated bike paths, we can get to our destinations on safe bike paths 90% of the time.
Here are some examples of our weekly trip:
* pick up and drop off our grand daughter at her school
* grocery shopping
* dinner out
* pleasure touring around the city
* go to our local Y for fitness classes
* visit our friends
* most shoppings around us
We definitely will not ride on busy roads with cars and construction vehicles. Without our bike lane network, We'll need to drive everywhere, which will contribute to traffic congestion, bad for the environment and will negatively affect our health.
PLEASE consider all factors before removing bike lanes. Have a look at countries with high quality of life (eg. Denmark, the Netherlands, etc) . They certainly can teach our provincial politicians a lesson or two.
Thanks for your consideration.
