I own a car and I own a bike. 90% of my travel is by bicycle. In the city it’s usually faster, less polluting and efficient. I don’t take up parking or impede traffic. I am a property owner and pay taxes to Toronto and the province.
This is a political stunt and an embarrassment to the people of Ontario. I beg you to listen to transit experts, local councillors and urban designers. We need better alternatives to cars, not more roads.
The words “safety” and “health” do not appear anywhere in the bike lane sections of Bill 212, and the only consideration to approve or remove bike lanes would be “the orderly movement of motor vehicle traffic”. This is clearly not about safety or efficiency but vote pandering.
Please consider the long term benefit of having better options to driving for all residents near and far. Ford isn’t, he’s just trying to score cheap points for votes.
