As a driver and occasional cyclist, I think the removal of bike lanes is a step in the wrong direction. Each person on a bike is one fewer car on the road. Many of us who are driving choose to do so because we haven’t felt that the bike infrastructure is adequate enough… reduce gridlock by building MORE opportunities for cycling in the city. The province should stay in their lane and let those who know the cities best make these types of decisions.
