* Removing bike lanes: Cyclist want to go the most direct route and not through neighborhoods. They will still be on main routes BUT their lives will be endangered.

* Research since the 1970's has proven that widening roads makes congestion worse. Pretending otherwise makes the government seem untrustworthy and incompetent.

* Governments need to dramatically reduce carbon emissions, and encouraging people to bike is an important part of this reduction

• Removing bike lanes is a waste of taxpayers money.

* Businesses will also suffer from reduced traffic.

* Ontarians need more options to get around, not fewer

* The Province is centralizing power - stripping communities of their right to have a voice in the values and policies adopted by the city. And stripping our good elected representatives of the duties to protect our environment and the health of their constituents.

Taking bike lanes away is example of wedge politics which this country and this province do not need.
