I strongly support bike lanes in Toronto and am an active cyclist who uses this as my primary mode of transportation year round.
In addition, this bill is in conflict with many development policies at the provincial and city of Toronto level that excuse high rise developers from adding vehicular parking in areas connected with cycling infrastructure and public transit. Much of the boom in residential density across Toronto relies on providing bicycle parking instead of vehicular and we risk losing functioning housing and the ability for housing to be built by enacting Bill 212. Consequently this current legislation undermines the provincial goverment's own legislation 'Cutting Red Tape to Build More Homes Act'.
