This bill is a terrible idea. Clearly this bill uses bike lanes as a wedge issue, to distract from the fact it enables government to expedite the building of expensive highways.
There is no logical, historical, or evidence-based reason for this bill to target bike lanes. Instead, this bill will make traffic in cities worse.
If this bill is passed, my wife and I may consider both driving cars, thereby causing more traffic for everyone.
Perhaps the government should stop trying to divide Ontarians with bike lanes as a wedge issue, should stop trying to make developers rich by paving over our farmland with useless highways, and should instead focus on actually trying to govern.
