Hello,
Re: Bill 212
I am a resident of Bloor St W in Etobicoke and I would like to comment on the impact of adding bike lanes to the corridor between Royal York and Humber River. Essentially, the bike lanes have done three things to our community:
1. Disabled Emergency vehicles from responding to calls and getting people to hospital. I have been behind an EMS vehicle three times this year and watched them not be able to move to get to their call.
I ask you to remove the lanes to save lives!!!
2. I have lived in the area for over 20 years know many of the local business owners. All of the owners have told me they have experienced a significant downturn in revenues with it taking 20 minutes longer to get to their own business because of the gridlock. Many local businesses barely survived COVID and now face the same financial challenges thanks to the City's decision on bike lanes. I ask you to remove the bike lanes to save our local business!!!
3. The bike lanes have turned a beautiful and accessible street into an incredibly ugly mess. Bloor street is now lined with cement curbs, metal ramps at every corner, posts and flags littered along our street. This hardly encourages people to visit our beautiful area. I ask you to remove the bike lanes to bring back the natural beauty of our neighbourhood!!!
Thank you for caring enough to fix this mess!!!
