Traffic in Toronto is an urban planning issue that has nothing to do with the bike lanes. Removing bike lanes does not remove the cyclists. Without them, you will have cars and bikes together on the same narrow road, causing cars to move slower in and around the individuals cycling. It is more dangerous for everyone involved and will not result in better traffic flow.
This is all to say nothing of the traffic that will caused by the construction necessary to remove them.
Plus! The proposed streets for bike lane removal (Bloor and College) aren’t wide enough for an extra car lane each direction. So - it isn’t as if the bike lanes are taking away space from a potential other car lane.
