I strongly disagree with this bill. I use bike lanes every day to get to work, to visit friends, to go to local shops and restaurants. The expansion of the Toronto bike lane network over the last few years has made my commute much safer.
Bike lanes are a local issue. The city should be able to decide what streets they should go on.
Congestion is a real issue in the city, but it's not because of bike lanes.
Riping out infrastructure is a waste of money and it will make our streets more dangerous for everyone.
I am very happy with the provincial investment in projects like new subways and transit infrastructure. Giving people more options to get where they want to go is the best way to reduce gridlock.
Let's not go backwards. Please do not pass this bill and do not remove any bike lanes. There is good data that shows that bike lanes are not causing congestion. Bike lanes make our city a better place to live.
