More hunting? I was so disappointed to learn about this proposal and I’m asking that you deny this request. We need less violence in this world not more. This isn’t about food. This is about giving people an excuse to sadistically stalk, terrorize, and victimize wildlife. Why all of a sudden is this being considered? It’s time to start thinking about food differently. Just because we can eat it doesn’t mean we should and it definitely doesn’t mean it’s healthy or good for us.
We need a more compassionate food system. Guns, knives, and crossbows are weapons or torture and violence. I am also curious why the process for obtaining hunting licenses and tags is so easy? Why isn’t there a more thorough process that examines a person’s background? Why isn’t there a criminal and psychological background check done? We know the majority of people who harm and abuse animals are men. That’s a fact. (Source: Kendra Coulter 2023, Defending Animals).
Why are those with a criminal history, mental illness, domestic violence, child abuse, animal abuse allowed to obtain tags and licenses? It always amazes me the loopholes and poor enforcement that happens which therefore enables and emboldens people who love to harm animals a free pass and open invitation to continue doing so when people in governmental agencies are more that eager and willing to look the other way. How do you know that the people you’ve given permission to kill don’t torture the animals before they die or leave them gravely injured and unaccounted for? Issuing more tags increases the likelihood that this will happen. This is not the way to go.
For those that think this is food then I ask you to think about this. If something you eat leaves your body in a state of chronic inflammation which is what all animal protein does (doesn’t matter how old your victim is or whether it was a wild animal or factory farmed pig, chicken, cow, goat, horse, lamb, turkey, fish, or seafood animal). If you consume animal flesh three times a day for decades, what do you think this does to your body? It has its negative effects. We know that chronic inflammation promotes and does create preventable diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer). These sentient victims did not want to die. They had lives and families just like you. Instead, government agencies should focus on promoting whole food plant based diets which are cheaper, healthier for us and our planet. Culture is no excuse for animal cruelty. Ditch the expansion of these tags and stop the cruelty and violence now.
