I am commenting on the proposal for an interim combined sewer to support development at 955 Lakeshore Boulevard Ontario place. I am strongly opposed to the proposal which goes against decades of work by the city of Toronto to separate and replace combined sewers across the city to prevent the discharge of raw sewage into Lake ontario. It also flies in the face of international agreements to protect water quality and habitat in the great lakes. This effluent also risks human health in terms of water quality at beaches, fishing and the quality of the lake as an attraction for Canadian and international visitors. Nothing says tourist attraction like raw sewage right?
This proposal to benefit private sector initiatives is not in the public interest and threatens the stability of the lake ecosystem in a time of severe biodiversity loss.
Why are you letting corporations and Ford run rampant behind the scenes and ruin the Lake Shore (Ontario Place) area? The public have stated that they do not want this mega spa, why won't you listen? The great lakes hold more than 20% of the world's fresh water. What about that says "add raw sewage"? Especially since it's just for some rich fuck off mega spa that no one wanted or needed in the first place. Good luck with the increase in flooding due too all the nature that was clear cut to make space for this cement monstrosity.
