I strongly oppose the proposal for an interim combined sewer to support development at 955 Lake Shore Boulevard (Ontario Place). This plan undermines decades of work by the City of Toronto to eliminate combined sewers and prevent raw sewage from being discharged into Lake Ontario. It contradicts international agreements aimed at protecting water quality and habitats in the Great Lakes.
Allowing this project to proceed threatens public health by compromising water quality at beaches, fisheries, and other recreational areas. It also jeopardizes the lake’s status as a vital natural and cultural asset for Canadians and international visitors.
This proposal prioritizes private interests over the public good and endangers the lake’s ecosystem at a time of critical biodiversity loss. It is not in the best interest of Toronto’s residents or the environment.
