The Town of Caledon approach to mineral aggregate management is fundamentally flawed in two ways. Firstly, they have failed to protect the aggregate resource in Area 9a and 9b. There is provincially significant Amabel Dolomites and Queensto Shale with in these areas that can provide the highest quality building material in close to market locations. The removal of these areas was a last minute change and violates the Provincial Policy Statement. Secondly, the town fails to identify a wide range of haul routes that could be used to get resources to market. The Peel Region Goods Movement Network figure in the Regional OP does this job and should be reflected in the town policy.
