"remove the requirements to develop recovery strategies and management plans, government response statements, and reviews of progress from legislation. The ministry would then have the flexibility to focus the development of conservation guidance when and where it is needed and makes sense to do so."
Aka: We're stripping government authorities of their power to intervene and police private corporations' use of Ontario land, on behalf of the public and animals that didn't get a vote. We're also going to make cuts so that only the biggest and most egregious offenders will be held to the bare minimum of protections they can get away with.
Knock it off, this is ridiculous. The environment and Ontario's ecosystems deserve more protections, not less. Scrap this bill immediately.
Instead of making cuts, the solution is to adequately fund these departments so they can process permit applications in a reasonable timeframe.
