I may not live in Chatham, but my family lives along the very roads these dump trucks will travel every single day. This isn’t just a line on a map—it’s our front yards, our driveways, our kids waiting for the school bus, and our daily lives. The idea of thousands of tonnes of waste being hauled past our homes every day by heavy trucks fills me with fear. It’s not just the noise or the damage to the roads—it’s the very real danger to our children, our seniors, and anyone trying to cross the street or ride a bike. These are small, rural roads not built for this kind of industrial traffic. One missed stop. One distracted driver. One accident is all it takes. We shouldn’t have to trade our safety and peace of mind because another city wants to put its waste in someone else’s backyard. We need a full environmental assessment to ensure that every community along this route is protected—because we matter too.
