I live within 500 m of the proposed waste management/landfill site. To say I am upset about the government possibly revoking the Full EA is an understatement. I understand we need landfills and recycling of this toxic material, but should it be happening that close to a thriving community? I ask you, would you want that operation, and at that large of a scale in your backyard? The possible health risks and damage to our environment keep me awake at night. When you really look at York 1's plans it is unbelievable to me that our government and an environmental branch of government would even consider this. I encourage you to please come to our town, stand in my backyard, where I will have full sight of the landfill and be able to hear the grinders and shredders, not to mention be forced to breathe in all the toxic particulate this will no doubt float into the air that myself and family breathe. By removing legislation that is put in place to protect the health of people, protect our waterways and creatures is shameful. Just because the affects of this may not come to fruition for years is not something that your ministry or government should take lightly. Would you knowingly expose your family to toxins in the groundwater they drink or the air they breathe? When you need to make this decision that affects the health and well being of so many, I want you to consider, what if it were your family, your home? This type of damage to the environment cannot be undone and therefore you need to consider why a full EA is so important. The word tariffs and expense is getting tossed around a lot. What price do you put on human health/animal health and life? Can you actually try to justify my family is less important than yours? We already have a giant landfill in Chatham Kent. Why do we need to be the sacrificial lambs of the province?
