As a resident of Dresden I am very much opposed to the York 1 project for a landfill on the North side of the town. I am also very concerned about Bill 5 and removal of EA for this project.
Aside from the environmental issues i.e. air pollution , ground water and watershed pollution this project will significantly impact property values in the area and have significant impact on infrastructure i.e. roads, bridges , schools, businesses and the way of life for residents.
It would appear there is political interference on the part of the provincial government and it's possible relationship with the proponents of this project.
As someone who has been involved in environmental management in industry I see BILL 5 as one of the most dangerous proposal by an Ontario Government in recent times and lead to more environmental issues over time. I see the current PC government as anti environmental and we will all pay a future price for this.
