Removing the environmental assessment for the York1 Waste Disposal site is a scary thought for the community of Dresden. The assessment would ensure that our community would be able to keep its quality of life and beautiful environment. The simple fact is that the disposal facility would be way too close to town limits. Less than a kilometre out of town. The sound pollution alone from all the trucks going through town would be deafening. We just don't have the infrastructure or the roadways to handle that increased traffic.
Hundreds of trucks a day would have to pass through 2 school zones which is unsafe enough. Clogging up our already busy 2 lane street. I have 4 young children living on St. George street (the same street these trucks would be traveling down) and am scared for their safety as well as the quiet life we've learned to know and love here.
I oppose this proposal and am very disappointed at the powers who have even made it possible for York 1 to even consider waiving it.
