Opposition to the Removal of Environmental Assessment Requirements
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed removal of Environmental Assessment (EA) requirements for the project referenced in ERO 025-0389. This is a serious safety concern with potentially devastating consequences for the people of Dresden—myself, my family, and my grandchildren included.
The health risks posed by removing oversight on a site with a questionable past are unacceptable. I used to live near that property and know the area well. I spent time riding my ATV near Molly’s Creek, an area rich in wildlife. It’s home to frogs, turtles, and other species that will be harmed if this development proceeds without proper environmental safeguards.
Furthermore, we don’t know what has already been buried on that land. Disturbing it or adding to it without a full environmental assessment could be dangerous. It should be cleaned up, not further contaminated.
There’s also the matter of zoning. The current zoning does not align with the intended development. Zoning laws exist to protect communities and ensure that development is done responsibly. Ignoring them sets a troubling precedent.
This proposal will also reduce property values in the area. As a long-time resident and grandparent, I worry deeply about what future generations are inheriting. Dresden has a rich history and a tight-knit community. We deserve better than decisions that put our health, environment, and legacy at risk.
I urge you to uphold the Environmental Assessment requirements and put the safety of our community first.
Sincerely,
Long Time Resident
