Having life-long connections with Dresden and the area through many relatives, and many beloved relatives reposing in the Dresden Cemetery, I implore you to secure a proper Environmental Assessment for the proposed Dresden Dump. Follow through with the EA as promised by the Conservative Government. Garbage is not tariffed, so there is no need for this site to become an active dump. Also, C-K already has a dump that went through an EA - so really - CK is doing its share regarding garbage. Our rural community should not be expected to host 2 dumps. Do not turn the charming Dresden community into a graveyard, with an active big dump so close to town, water wells and watershed affecting so many people and communities. Am I exaggerating? With or without an EA - if the dump is opened it will lower property values in Dresden, stop future growth in Dresden, affect the waterways, affect peoples health, affect traffic and our roads and be a blight on the cultural value of the world - renowned Josiah Henson historical site. Besides this, Indigenous Communities were not consulted about this dump, which is another violation of their established rights as First Nations people. Another insult to them - outrageous! This dump is not needed, it is certainly not needed in Chatham Kent, so close to town, it should not be opened at all and certainly at the minimum should not be opened without a full and proper EA. Please act positively for the people of Dresden and the surrounding community on this matter. Insist upon no dump, or at least a proper EA.
