It is incredibly disheartening to see the province trying to proceed with this project without proper environmental studies. It’s bad enough the location is located within a kilometer of the town that thrives on tourism, but to also cause environmental degradation adds insult to injury. I can appreciate that landfills need to go somewhere, but rarely are they found so close to a small community that will be greatly impacted by noise, traffic and pollution. A new location needs to be found and due diligence needs to be done. A town that brings people from all over Ontario for markets in the summer and winter will be greatly impacted by a landfill so close to the town center. Ontario needs to support small communities.
