Dear Ontario,
As someone in the environmental field and part of the Guelph community, I think it's embarrassing and ridiculous how little we monitor and limit Nestle's water use. Groundwater is one of our most valuable and sensitive resources. Nestle is making profit through unsustainable practises and is contributing greatly to our waste problems. I'm upset as a community member about the fact Nestle has purchased an additional water pumping well in Elora, not too far from other wells in the area, for private benefits and risking public uses and needs. We have no need in today's society for bottled water, except for emergency circumstances. We need to be thinking about future generations instead of today's profits and benefits. Ontario needs to be a better green leader on a national and international scale. By extending the moratorium, and eventually reforming regulations regarding water bottling facilities, Ontario can limit these unsustainable and unethical operations. I believe this is what is best for Ontario citizens.
Thank you
