I strongly oppose Bill 5 for multiple reasons that are rooted in facts which I feel cannot go overlooked. In the current political climate, we need to ensure due process is followed for all major projects (and non-major projects) to ensure corporations are not profiting more than is reasonable off of taxpayer dollars.
Doug Ford’s government has proven multiple times already with the Greenbelt scandal, Ontario Place Scandal, and his wishes to remove all bike lanes in Toronto that stronger oversight is needed. I am sick and tired of government lining the pockets of the rich and leaving taxpayers with nothing to see for it. Projects like the Eglinton Crosstown in Toronto have gone on for far too long and I believe that Bill 5 will open the door to perpetuate similar issues.
