There are far to many species at risk already, many which our children and grandchildren will never get to see in their life time especially if bill 5 is passed. Many jobs such as environmental consulting and wildlife conservation careers will be lost or have significantly reduced funding. If this bill is passed we will be putting people out of work. We aren't just talking about a few animals we are talking about a huge array of biodiversity, which in tern will compromise flora and fauna which were once depended on by the species at risk. For example wild lupine once provided and abundance of food and resources for other wildlife such as monarch butterflies, but has since been significantly reduced, creating a ripple effect. What do you think will happen if this bill is passed. Nothing good will come of it. People who choose nature to help with their physical and mental health will be walking through landscapes with the hum of traffic. We have worked so hard as a community to protect these species at risk why give up now, why spend millions of dollars undoing all of the good we have created, why are we focused on removing something simply because it is complex and timely. It is still just as important. If this bill is passed mistakes will be made over and over again. Flooding will be increased, mental health will plummet. We are already in a climate crisis which we have seen destroy areas of the gta last year with its flooding and this year with our ice storms. People without power for weeks if not months at a time. This will continue to get worse, and if it does people will begin to move out of the province and potentially the country negatively impacting the economy. This is common sense! Bill 5 should not be passed. Bill 5 destroys lives and our planet.
