There are hardly words for how opposed I am to these changes. The proposed changes to Ontario’s Endangered Species Act are nothing short of an environmental betrayal. Stripping away protections for vulnerable wildlife not only pushes endangered species closer to extinction—it signals a disturbing shift toward dangerous, androcentric rhetoric that prioritizes short-term industrial gain over ecological survival. This is more than just bad policy; it’s a deliberate and reckless step down a slippery slope, where once-thriving species may reach a point of no return. Make no mistake: this is just one front in the Ford government’s escalating anti-environmental crusade. Their continued dismantling of environmental safeguards puts not only Ontario’s ecosystems at risk, but the health, safety, and future of its citizens. We will stand united in condemning this assault on biodiversity and demand accountability before irreversible damage is done.
