Weakening environmental protections and leaving more species-at-risk even more vulnerable is a terrible step backwards for this province. The existing protections that have been established through decades of scientific research and conservation efforts and are supported by many environmental and scientific experts in this province - all of whom are equally critical of this bill and are raising the alarm that Bill 5 will only invite destruction and ruin to our environment.
This reeks of a Greenbelt scandal 2.0 and an attempt to give developers what wasn't delivered with those questionable plans.
Do not seek to service only industry and profit-making initiatives in Ontario with your legislation. The people of Ontario are not asking for any of this. Our preserved, natural environment is a vital resource for us now and for future generations, and many aspects of it are irreplaceable once lost.
