This bill is widely criticized and rightfully so.
I'm deeply disheartened and disgusted to see the Ontario government so brazenly trying to take advantage of current crises (housing, tariffs, etc.) to suspend and bypass laws that exist to protect our people, our land, and our future.
To suggest that this bill is designed to bring Canada wealth and prosperity is deceitful.
Our wealth is in our land and biodiversity, which this bill will exploit and endanger.
Our wealth is in our people and our history, which this bill will defile and cast aside.
Our wealth is in our values, which this bill will surrender and abandon in exchange for short-term gains (and irreversible damage).
If "Canada" means anything, it isn't a bunch of economic numbers on a page. It is history, it is future, it is land, it is people, it is nature, and the relationships between all these. This bill inexcusably repeats the terrible mistakes of the past, ignorantly discounts the imperatives of the present (climate change), and irrefutably puts the future of Canada at risk.
I, along with many others, oppose it.
Thanks for reading (and please stop Bill 5 from passing)
