This amendment should not apply to any properties determined to have cultural heritage value or interest. A Cultural Heritage Evaluation Report (CHER) of the subject properties within the proposed Special Economic Zone must be completed before a decision on granting the Zone. In consultation with the municipality where the property (ies) are located, Council considers the designation of these cultural heritage properties under the Ontario Heritage Act before the Province identifies and grants the Special Economic Zone. Protected Heritage Properties do not prevent growth but the protection ensures to manage change to avoid negative impacts and conserve the heritage value of the Zone. This heritage planning framework is consistent with the PPS 2024.
