I wish to record my absolute opposition and rejection of this proposed legislation (Bill 5 - 2025). It is in almost every respect contrary to the most basic values of Canadian and Ontarian society. The assumption of omnibus special rights and open-ended authorities by any level of government (e.g. Federal and the War Measures Act) is an extremely dangerous initiative and runs against the most basis principles of liberal democracy and human rights. If contested it might well be found to be contrary to our Canadian Charter of Rights and Feeedoms, and indeed the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights. The exclusive license and latitude to cordon off any part of our province (note "our") and unilatterally declare it beyond contest in terms not only of use, but also in terms of the basic processes of how it may be "developed", is an outrageous and morally repulsive proposition. To disguise this as an intitiative in the public interest, and one that mist be pursued because of a Trump-induced emergency, the saving of the Ontario economy, the welfare of Ontario's families and workers, and otherwise, is at best disengenuous and frankly offensive. It not only betrays the best of Ontario's Conservative political values and practice, but takes us into extremely dangerous territory where autocratic practice is permissable.

The shocking attitude to our inherited trust in looking after and caring for and passing our biophysical envionment is once again astounding! The world is in human-induced crisis has not only taken us into the existential threats of rampant climate change, the loss of sone 60% of our species in the last five decades, and more. And this all plays out in the growth of widespread food insecurity, wildfires, massive foods, huge intensive and unpredictable weather systems, and much much more. The insurance industry is telling us to get our act together. The largest wealth management organizations are shouting at us to attend to "stranded assets", and get out of last year's extractive economies, and .. .. .. .. . Even if you ideologically lean to being a "denier" and think all of this is panic hocus pocus, you cannnot miss it! So, outside of the moral issue of degrading and wasting our received trust that is our chidren's and their children's safe and healthy environment, you must appreciate the reality that further waste and degradation of our environment (which is not infinite, and endless) is a stupid thing to even contemplate. We should be going in the opposite direction - quickly!

This proposed bill (Bill 5), is in almost every respect, offensive, impractical, uneconomic, wasteful, dangerous, and much more. The cyncics say it is yet another example of a corrupt government "looking after its friends". The lost electorate say "what can you expect from politicians, they are all crooks"! All of these sentiments and others are part of the democratic deficit that we are together creating. An electorate essentially cashing in its basic rights. Happy ground for the Putins, Pinochets, Orbans, and other dictators in our world. Poison for Canada. And, I must assume, exactly what this Provincial government would not subscribe to.

As a human being, a father, brother, husband, grandfather, citizen,.. .. .. .. .. .. I urgently request and advocate that you re-visit this proposed BIll 5, and return to the basic objectives of economic development and increased societal security that were among the primary motivations underpinning it, revise the proposal from the roots up, and ensure that its nefarious environmental, human rights, democracy, and other impacts are resolved in full.

Thank you.
