This legislation (Bill 17) is a positive move in the right direction to streamline and facilitate residential development (intensification). At present, there is / are recommendations to defer Development Charges to Occupancy Stage. This will help alleviate and reduce development costs for apartment construction owners making the project(s) more viable. If this provision is to move forward, please ensure that this applies to the purpose-built apartment rental proponents as well as the proposed condominium apartment projects. A level playing field will help advance both types of apartment construction which are experiencing the same land, construction and levy / tax rates. I represent a number of purpose-built apartment builders and this would have a direct impact on improving project viability in addition to the other recommended measures. Thank you.
