Please do NOT remove Nancy Island or any other portion of land or water from Wasaga Beach Provincial Park to open it up for tourism development.
This will be disastrous for Piping Plover birds! Losing habitat for these birds and other wildlife will hasten the loss of our natural world and put species at risk of extinction - and after all, isn't our abundant nature in Ontario one of the reasons tourists come to visit?
These natural spaces and species have a right to survive as much as we do, but beyond that, loss of natural spaces to development puts ALL OF US at greater risk as well - of increasing wildfires and floods (with attendant economic costs) and of the loss of the beauty of nature that makes Ontario a place where people want to live and work.
With this focus by the Ontario Government of development and profit (for who?) at any cost - cost to what makes Ontario a great place to live - we are really shooting ourselves in the foot! (And in the long run damaging our economy through natural disasters and ultimate destruction of the natural world that we have inherited.
