I am strongly opposed to the proposed amendments. Essentially it will permit the very Ministry that is responsible for protecting provincial parks and conservation reserves to abandon its duty to Ontarians, and transfer administration to a Ministry that, in effect, has a mandate that to exploit the very lands that need to be protected. Nancy Island, as Crown Land, is owned by ALL the citizens of Ontario.
It is profoundly undemocratic to have the special interest groups in the Town of Wasaga Beach sell of Nancy Island to developers. This is NOT what I voted for when I cast my vote for Doug Ford is the last election. Exploitation of Crown Land for short term gain is not in my opinion a wise plan nor does it properly reflect conservative values. Short sightedness and greed of a few should not trump the interests of Ontarians. There needs to be a broader public discussion of the proposed amendments particularly as it sets the stage for continuous sell-off of land that belong to all Ontarians.
Thank you.
