I am against removing any land from Provincial Parks in order to “boost tourism”. This leaves any development up to the whim of the regional and civic governments of the day, and could include crass, money-making ventures such as amusement parks , casinos, and vendor booths where trees, lakes and wildlife ought to be!
Provincial and National parks were set up to PROTECT natural areas from development, IN PERPETUITY. Once an area is developed, there is no going back. It takes hundreds of years to repair the environmental damage, all for the sake of collecting a few more bucks from the pockets of tourists. This is very shortsighted behaviour, and is not a temporary change.
The provincial government should be ashamed for even suggesting that land be removed from provincial parks!
