Wasaga Beach Provincial Park…

Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is one of the last remaining nesting grounds for the endangered Piping Plover in Ontario. These tiny shorebirds have made a fragile comeback since 2007, thanks to years of careful stewardship and protection.

Now, all that is at risk.

We must stand up for Piping Plovers, defend public land, and stop environmental rollbacks. We are past the critical point for global warming. That does not mean you don't have to worry about it anymore, it means that every step we take in the wrong direction makes it so much worse.

The more that we erode the natural order in an area, the more likely it is to suffer from extreme weather events and catastrophes. Floods due to a lack of natural flood plains. Landslides because there are no large, deep rooted plants to hold the ground together. Wildfires and tornadoes due to extreme heat. Ignoring the problem is not a solution.

Selling Wasaga Beach Provincial Park off one piece at a time is not a solution. It is an attempt to gain more money. That is all. Money is lovely, but it doesn't hold the ground together, protect from floods, or save us from wildfires and tornadoes. The world is changing and it is time Ontario changes with it.
