Please help save Wasaga…

Please help save Wasaga Beach Provincial Parks and all of the endangered species (birds, dunes, plants, snakes, etc.) that call it home. Please do not amend the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006. Most people flock here for the untouched beaches and parks, Before we called Wasaga Beach home, we used to visit the beach and we could feel the stress melt away. Those are the feelings that had us coming back for more and eventually moving here permanently. This will hurt tourism. Wasaga Beach is unique.

This act was passed to permanently protect a system of provincial parks and conservation reserves that includes ecosystems that are representative of all of Ontario’s natural regions, protects provincially significant elements of Ontario’s natural and cultural heritage, maintains biodiversity and provides opportunities for compatible, ecologically sustainable recreation. 2006, c. 12, s. 1.

If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. How sad would it be if your children’s children were not able to see a Piping Plover or a Hognose Snake in the wild, but only on a photograph or perhaps in a zoo. Those are only two examples of the species we could lose to extinction. Don’t take more of their habitat away. Some will not adapt or find habitat anywhere else. They’ve called it home for longer than we have.

We only have one planet. You have a chance to protect the incredible biodiversity. Let's build a future where harmony with nature is our top priority.
