Reducing the size of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is an awful idea. I go to Wasaga Beach all the time in the summer and it’s always busy and crowded. If you reduce the size of the beach by half, you vastly limit the amount of people who can visit the beach at one time. On top of that, selling half of the Provincial Park to the town has a great potential to negatively impact the delicate ecosystem and habitats that are found there. Species like the Piping Plover, which is endangered, make their homes on beaches like the one found in Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. If you take away most of the beach, you put this species at an even greater risk of extinction. The government has a duty to look after our natural lands and preserve them for future generations. Removing large chunks from provincial parks like Wasaga Beach goes against this responsibility.
