I am a lifetime resident of Wasaga Beach (over 50 years) and I strongly disagree with the transfer or sale of provincial lands to the municipal government. Wasaga Beach is the world’s longest freshwater beach- it’s simple and natural and that’s what people love and what they have ALWAYS loved. Wasaga Beach needs development and a downtown/business area which should be centred on the beach as it was- on the current municipal properties, but there is absolutely NO need to take the natural beauty of Wasaga to hand over to a town council to do with it as they please and line their pockets with whoever will pay them the most money for development of that protected property. I don’t want to live at Disney World- I don’t want to lose the natural beauty and magic that is Wasaga Beach. I believe there is room for development to support the growth of our quickly growing community and tourism in all seasons, without losing what is so important to our natural resources and ecosystems. The municipal government over the past 10-20 years has already destroyed so much of our natural forests and homes to wildlife in Wasaga Beach- PLEASE do not add to that destruction by handing over such a delicate and important part of our environment and community.
