I am absolutely against this development and the request for MZO.
I live next to the Red Hill Valley Expressway in Hamilton and the noise, vibrations and air quality are very bad. Even though the City was required to build mitigation for these negative impacts to the residents, they built the very least they could. Ever since the RHVP opened in 2007, residents adjacent to the expressway as well as others in this NSA have complained to the City about these issues. The City has ignored all of us for years and still to this day they will not acknowledge that the noise, vibrations and bad air quality are even present. The response from the City is "get a lawyer". So, going forward I believe the City is just trying to avoid building the needed mitigation so that the future residents can live in a safe and healthy environment. They are just using the lack of affordable housing for these residents to justify not protecting the future residents. Who cares about these people. It doesn't matter about their health and safety or their quality of life. All the City has to do to get this project started is to agree to build the needed mitigation as CN has requested. CN does not want to have future residents complaining about the noise, odor, vibrations and quality of life later. Just agree to the mitigation that CN and their experts require to proceed. It is a NO BRAINER.
